 The Saudi Dental Society was established in 1401H (1981G) which was
adopted by King Saud University, represented by the College of
Dentistry. However, its actual activity started in Rajab 1408H (1988G)
by forming a preparatory committee whose task was completed in Rajab
1410H (1990G). As the lead was assumed by the first official board
elected by the General Society, followed by the formation of other
boards which are to be re-elected every two years and was in accordance
with the internal Regulations.
The society seeks to
achieve many objectives through its various activities, most
importantly to upgrade the dental medicine service level in the Kingdom
of Saudi Arabia, to promote scientific research in the various dental
medicine areas, to upgrade the scientific and practical efficiency of
the dentist, to collaborate between workers in the local, Arab and
International level and to spread awareness and concern to maintain
oral health care in the community.
The Saudi Dental Society’s main office is located in Dental School, King Saud University, Riyadh and has three other branches:
- King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah
- Eastern Province, Alkhobar
- Qassem Al Buraida, King Fahad Specialist Hospital
The Saudi Dental Journal is dedicated to the
continuing professional develpment of dentistry in the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia and the Arab countries. Founded in 1989, the journal is the
official publication of the Saudi Dental Society. The Saudi Dental
Journal is 17 years old. 3 issues are printed every year and now it has
reached it's 17th volume which means 51 issues untill today. The
primary objectives of the Journal are multifarious: to advance the
science and art of dentistry, to encourage scientific research, and to
improve and enhance the general standard of dentistry in the Kingdom
and the Arab world. Furthermore, the Journal serves as the major
information source of dental health care in the Kingdom and the Region.
the dental community is, therefore, provided with an educational tool
which monitors and reports the latest developments in dental science
and its application to preventive dentistry, clinical dentistry, dental
care management, and dental research. Saudi Dental Journal The Journal
publishes original scientific papers with special emphasis on
accomplished research in and on Saudi Arabia, as well as unusual case
reports, editorial and review articles, book reviews and other relevant
information which assist the Journal in achieving its objetives in the
context of high professional standards.
